Peter Schworer

Originally from Huntington Beach, California, Peter, who has been an avid surfer for over 33 years, now makes his home in Zihuatanejo, Mexico.

With a degree in commercial art from Foothill College, Los Altos Hills, Peter started location painting here in 1994. The majority of his work is oil on canvas.

In 1988, Peter designed, built and marketed "The Giant Wave Photography Prop", a surf sculpture used as a photographic backdrop and of which, between 1989 and 1991, 28 were sold in England, Australia, Canada and the United States.

Peter's work with "The Wave", in association with Mak'n Waves, Inc., was featured in Entrepreneur magazine in 1989 and again as the cover story in August, 1991. Comments and articles on his artwork and "The Wave" have made it to the front pages of 54 U.S. newspapers.

From 1994 on, Peter became known for his Surf and Beach Art. His paintings have appeared in numerous art shows and festivals, including:

  • Hermosa Beach, CA. from 1994-1997, where he's taken "Best of Show"
  • Orange County Fair
  • Ventura County Fair
  • Hermosa Beach Pier Grand Opening, 1993 ("Best of Show")

In December of 2000, Peter opened the Z-Town Gallery in downtown Zihuatanejo, to enthusiastic response from supporters and lovers of his art. Read about the gallery opening...
